MSP Crops List: How Many Crops Are Covered Under MSP?

It is the lowest price at which government agencies buy notified crops from farmers. This MSP crops list covers every crop, the latest 2026-27 rates, and older lists for comparison.

All 22 MSP Crops List at a Glance

The government fixes MSP for 22 crops, called mandated crops. Here they are, grouped by season:

Official lists name the marketing season, not the sowing year. Kharif crops sown in June 2022 were sold in Kharif Marketing Season 2022-23. Rabi crops sown in winter 2023 were sold in RMS 2024-25.

How the Government Decides MSP

The Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) recommends each MSP. It looks at farming costs, market prices, demand and supply, and global trends. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs then gives the final approval.

Since 2018-19, every MSP must be at least 1.5 times the all-India average cost of production. That cost covers seeds, fertiliser, hired labour, machinery and land rent. It also counts the value of your family's own labour.

Kharif rates usually come out in May or June. Rabi rates follow around October.

How to Sell Your Crop at MSP

Follow these steps to get the MSP for your crop:

  1. Register early. Most states open an online portal before each season. Some also register farmers at purchase centres.

  2. Keep documents ready. You usually need Aadhaar, your land record and a bank passbook.

  3. Bring clean, dry produce. It must meet fair average quality norms, including moisture limits.

  4. Sell on your slot date. Take your crop to the purchase centre you are allotted.

  5. Get paid directly. The money goes straight to your bank account.

Different agencies buy different MSP crops

Crop

Who buys at MSP

Wheat and paddy

Food Corporation of India (FCI) and state agencies

Jowar, bajra, maize and ragi

State agencies, in states that buy them

Pulses, oilseeds and copra

NAFED and NCCF, under PM-AASHA

Cotton

CCI

Raw jute

Jute Corporation of India (JCI)

Good news for pulse growers. Under the pulses mission, NAFED and NCCF will buy all the tur, urad and masur you offer. This covers participating states for four years from 2025-26.

Use MSP as Your Price Benchmark

Before you sell, compare the day's mandi bhav with the MSP. If the mandi offers less, ask your nearest purchase centre whether it is buying. Have a question? Call the Kisan Call Centre free on 1800-180-1551. We update this MSP crops list whenever new rates are announced.
